The Family – Part 9
Colossians 3:20 Children, obey your parents in all things: for this is well pleasing unto the Lord.
The main command God has given children is to obey their parents. It is the right thing to do, it pleases the Lord, and it comes with the promise of a long and happy life.
The Family – Part 8
Ephesians 6:4 And, ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath: but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.
Raising children is simple but requires hard work. God commands parents to raise them in both the nurture (training, instruction) and admonition (correction, discipline) of the Lord.
The Family – Part 7
Deuteronomy 11:19 And ye shall teach them your children, speaking of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, when thou liest down, and when thou risest up.
God has left parents accountable and responsible for their child’s education. The standard school system strips away that responsibility but homeschooling ensures full control to the parents.
Luke 18:16 But Jesus called them unto him, and said, Suffer little children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God.
We should not assume that children raised in a christian home will know the same biblical truths that their parents have learnt. Parents need to teach their children and protect them from worldly distractions that hinder their knowledge of the scriptures.
Deuteronomy 6:7 And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up.
Pastor Kevin Sepulveda has been preaching a series on the family, so it was perfect timing that a homeschooling documentary had been released. The church held its second movie night watching Thou Shalt Teach Them covering what may be the most important decision christian parents can make with their children.
Luke 1:17 And he shall go before him in the spirit and power of Elias, to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the disobedient to the wisdom of the just; to make ready a people prepared for the Lord.
John the Baptist was given a powerful ministry to prepare a generation for the Lord. His ministry was no different to the one we have today, to point people to Christ.
The Family – Part 5
Genesis 18:19 For I know him, that he will command his children and his household after him, and they shall keep the way of the Lord, to do justice and judgment; that the Lord may bring upon Abraham that which he hath spoken of him.
Abraham is commonly known as the father of faith, but the Lord also endorses him as earthly father. God knew he would be a man who would command his children well and lead them in the way of the Lord.
The Family – Part 2
1 Timothy 5:14 I will therefore that the younger women marry, bear children, guide the house, give none occasion to the adversary to speak reproachfully.
Woman was created by God with specific abilities and instinctive goals: these include getting married, having children, and guiding their home. All women seek these things for fulfilment in life despite what the feminist says.
