Psalm 62:2 He only is my rock and my salvation; he is my defence; I shall not be greatly moved.
The Lord is our rock, our foundation and our protector. He is the one who saves us from our enemies and also from hell, we have no need to fear.
Acts 10:43 To him give all the prophets witness, that through his name whosoever believeth in him shall receive remission of sins.
This sermon looks at the book of Zechariah which has many references to the Christ that was to come. In order to know Jesus more, the old testament scriptures should not be neglected as they speak richly of him.
Ruth 1:16 And Ruth said, Intreat me not to leave thee, or to return from following after thee: for whither thou goest, I will go; and where thou lodgest, I will lodge: thy people shall be my people, and thy God my God:
The Lord commands that his people would show kindness and generosity toward widows and orphans. Ruth is an example of a widow who chose to believe on the God of Israel and was blessed with remarriage.
Isaiah 8:13-14 Sanctify the LORD of hosts himself; and let him be your fear, and let him be your dread. And he shall be for a sanctuary; but for a stone of stumbling and for a rock of offence to both the houses of Israel, for a gin and for a snare to the inhabitants of Jerusalem.
There are many stumbling stones to true biblical salvation that will cause people to trust in their own righteousness. Is Jesus Christ your rock of offence or the rock of your salvation?
Proverbs 8:7-8 For my mouth shall speak truth; and wickedness is an abomination to my lips. All the words of my mouth are in righteousness; there is nothing froward or perverse in them.
The wrath and hatred of the Lord is righteous and unquestionable. We are to stand firm in his judgement against those who are haters of God and reprobate.
Galatians 6:8 For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting.
Those who seek to put you under the law cannot keep the law themselves and are under the curse. To receive the blessings of the Lord is to receive the free gift of Jesus Christ.
Psalm 91:15 He shall call upon me, and I will answer him: I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him, and honour him.
Calling upon the name of the Lord is necessary for both spiritual and physical salvation. Believers ought to make prayer a priority in their lives but also overcome wicked living that can hinder those prayers from being heard.
